How to Use a Pool Table As a Card Table

How to Use a Pool Table As a Card Table

When converting your pool table to a card table, the most important thing to keep in mind is maintaining the original condition of your pool table. The surface of a pool table is expensive to repair, and a game of cards should not lead to an expensive repair bill. With a few supplies and some precautions, you can enjoy playing cards on your pool table without damaging the table.

Instructions

    1

Measure the playing area where the ball actually rolls on the table, from side rail to side rail. According to Billiards.com. the standard pool table sizes are as follows: a 7-foot table measures 40 inches by 80 inches; an 8-foot table measures 44 inches by 88 inches; an 8 1/2-foot table measures 46 inches by 92 inches; and a 9-foot table measures 50 inches by 100 inches.

    2

Purchase a hard top pool table cover that fits your table measurements. You can buy one where pool tables are sold. Be sure to get a firm hard top cover with foam-coated insides or a foam insert. The coated insides or foam insert will stabilize the surface and make it easier to play cards.

    3

Place the hard top cover on your pool table. If your cover comes with a foam insert, be sure to place the foam insert over the surface of your table before applying the hard top. Place the hard cover over the entire top surface of your pool table.

    4

Place folding chairs around the covered pool table for your guests. Inexpensive folding chairs can be purchased online or at a variety of stores.
