How to Create Christmas Table Tops

Christmas is the holiday where you roll out the red carpet and break out the best china. This holiday culminates with a Christmas dinner to share with family and friends. Setting a festive table will help you set the holiday mood and make those you've invited feel welcome. Decorating a table top isn't just limited to the dinner table. You can decorate a sofa table, coffee table or any empty table area you like. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

Dress the Table

    1

Give your table a quick shake to be sure it's stable. If you notice a little wobble in it, take steps to balance the table. You want to avoid any breakage that might occur from a crooked table that might tip over. Remove any dust from the table top by using a dust cloth.

    2

Toss the largest holiday tablecloth on the table. Make sure the ends are even and that all sides have equal or close to equal amounts of fabric hanging down. Then add the smaller tablecloth to the top of the green one. Turn it diagonally for a pretty look.

    3

Position the evergreen wreath in the center of the table. Fluff out any branches that are flat. Place the glass dish in the center of the wreath. Stand your green pillar candle on top of it. Then cover the pillar candle with the hurricane globe.

    4

Next, place the gold Christmas ornaments all over the wreath, arranging them as you like. Add the peppermint sticks, tucking them throughout the wreath.

    5

Place the green candles inside the votive holders. Put three on one side of the wreath and three more on the other. Spread them out so they extend the length of the table.

Place Settings

    6

Place a charger on the table at each guest's chair. Put a dinner plate on top of the charger.

    7

Place a drinking goblet at the upper right corner of the plate. Then place the fork and knife to the right of the plate, and the spoon to the left.

    8

Fold the napkin neatly and place it in the center of the plate. Light the candles with the candle lighter.
