Country holiday table decorations are a great way to get creative around the holiday season. Without spending a lot of money, it's possible to create interesting, fun and memorable table settings coordinated with any style of country decor. Does this Spark an idea?
Types
Table decorations often come in the form of floral arrangements, whether a single dramatic centerpiece or individual flowers at each table setting. For Thanksgiving, chrysanthemums are popular, while white roses and blue hydrangeas are attractive focal points for Hanukkah table decorations, and Christmas' classic poinsettias and evergreens can be combined with year-round florist flowers, such as carnations.
Flowers, though, are not the only country holiday decorations. Folk-art wood carvings, candles, and fruits and vegetables can all lend flair to a country holiday table.
Colors
Traditional colors for Thanksgiving holiday table decorations are orange, yellow, brown and green. But just as the traditional red and green of Christmas decorations are only of recent vintage, so, too are these earth tones for Thanksgiving. For Victorian decor, warm and pastel colors are more usual, so for a home that has a country Victorian theme, a wide range of colors are acceptable in table decorations. Mixing traditional colors with the colors of tableware can provide a coordinated look. For instance, at Thanksgiving, combine yellow chrysanthemums with white daisies and pumpkins to match a white dinner set.
Seasons
Although the holiday season is the traditional time to create holiday table decorations, consider creating country-themed table decor for year-round celebrations. For instance, Fourth of July picnics might not require a formal centerpiece, but a folk-art carved Uncle Sam makes a great decoration for picnic tables. Vintage finds, such as vases or pierced tin, paired with seasonal flowers or fruit make great decorations for all special occasions.
