If it doesnt match, it can prove even more visually appealing, but it should complement what you already have. If you have a pastel pink sofa, adding a deep brown ottoman would likely look out of place. Instead, choose an ottoman in a color that fits with your existing scheme.

Arrange the chair placement so the ottoman doesn't create a tripping hazard. If your chair protrudes into the room, your ottoman may prove more a problem than a useful addition. Consider changing the placement, perhaps putting it caddy corner in the space to prevent tripping.
