Table Setting Ideas for Xmas

Table Setting Ideas for Xmas

Plan and prepare your way to a comfortable and inviting holiday dinner with the right decorations and table setting. Whether you're interested in offering guests an elegant experience, searching for intimate country style decor or wanting to involve young children in creating a theme family members won't soon forget, several materials, ideas and options are available. Try atypical-colored themes utilizing shades of blue, purple, mauve and black to ensure a memorable table. Does this Spark an idea?

Elegant Evergreen Swatches

If you're searching for an elegant table setting option, use evergreen swatches from a nature walk or pick up some artificial ones at a crafts store. You can also take apart a real wreath and use the branches for the centerpiece. To begin, drape large pieces of evergreen over the chandelier hanging over the table. Spend extra time completing this step to make sure the evergreen hangs delicately. Next, cover the table with one gold, one maroon and one white tablecloth. Stagger the cloths so that a portion of each color peeks out in one specific area. Use deep pink and purple rosebud Christmas trees for the center of the table and fill clear martini glasses with same-shade jewels and set around rose trees. A gold-rimmed and white center dinner plate, gold salad plate and white bowl stacked on top softens all the rich colors. Hang gold and red paisley ribbons with gold ornaments attached at the ends from the chandelier to pull the table together.

Red and Blue

Run shades of red and blue throughout the house for a different Christmas theme. The blue represents wintertime and the red the traditional meaning of the holiday. Spread a white tablecloth over the entire table to begin and line the center with a turquoise runnerat least a foot widefor the full length of the table. Each setting includes one large white and red rimmed dinner plate with an aquamarine salad plate, decorated in red paisley and a blue bowl on top. Red goblets, napkins and votive candle holders randomly placed in the middle of the table balance the splash of appropriate color. Set blue-and-red bread plates to the left corner of the dinner setting. Place a red carnation inside the bowl. Red chair backs or seat cushions make these settings pop.

Poinsettias and Nature

Creating a poinsettia and nature theme and table setting offers an opportunity for kids to be involved in the festive process of family mealtime. Head outdoors in search of large twigs and set up a table for kids to work at prior to the big day. Show them a picture of the holy star and how to tie the twigs together to form one. To set the table, cover it with a maroon fabric cloth and drape cream, red and green ribbon at least 4 inches thick across it in two or three random places. Next, use cream-colored dishware, with black rims and red poinsettia leaves scattered around the rim. Place a twig star on top of each plate and weave a maroon napkin through its center. Include a small gift for each family member, encased in a gold box and bearing the recipient's picture on the cover.
