How to Secure a Changing Pad

Becoming a parent means having to become a self-trained safety expert. Baby products are rigorously tested for safety but must be used correctly to keep baby safe. Knowing how to properly secure a changing pad to a piece of furniture is crucial for effective results that are safe for your baby.

Instructions

    1

Check the dresser for structural safety. Check all the joints, surfaces, and moving parts to ensure the dresser is sturdy enough to handle the weight of the changing pad and baby.

    2

Place the changing pad in the desired position on the top surface of the dresser.

    3

Extend the safety straps down the back of the dresser. Most changing pads come with built-in safety straps which have ends that can be screwed into place. Safety straps can be purchased separately for changing pads that have no built-in safety straps.

    4

Screw the ends of the safety straps into the back of the dresser with screws using a power drill and driver bit.
